Grand Opening of Education Resource Center for Veterans

An Educational Resource center for Veterans, Retirees, and members of the National Guard and Reserves through Veterans Upward Bound officially opened on May 9th. The L.E.A.R.N. Foundation inc. is a local non profit that serves the counties of Paulding, Bartow, Carroll, Douglas, Floyd, Haralson, and Polk through their Veterans Upward Bound Programs. This resource center is their main office which is located in downtown Dallas. They are here to provide innovative and structured educational outreach programs and engaging activities to enhance individuals and families. Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) is a program that will do just that. Sponsored by the United States Department of Education, the VUB program will allow qualified veterans to have free access to education resources to help them overcome barriers to achieve success.

"We will provide our qualified veterans with over 200 years of education experience which will allow them the opportunity to gain trust and obtain the academic success they truly deserve," states CEO and 20-year enlisted retired Air Force Veteran, Dr. Lemelle.

By partnering with the community , local agencies, and using additional collaborative methods like Leadership, Education, Accountability, Respect, and Nurture, the L.E.A.R.N. Foundation will provide free educational resources for individual needs, self sufficiency, and lifelong learning.

Shelbia Bone, Membership Director of the Chamber of Commerce, stated," this program is thoroughly needed and will be welcomed in our community."

The resource center  contains workspaces with laptops, space for workshops, events, meetings, and even a decompression area for participants to relax.
